The Centre for Distance & Online Education (CD&OE), University of Jammu held an engaging session for M.A. Education students on the SWAYAM platform, India's initiative for massive open online courses (MOOCs). Dr. Anuradha Goswami, Coordinator, M.A. Education program, welcomed attendees and introduced the session’s resource persons Prof. Sarika Manhas, University UGC SWAYAM Coordinator, and Dr. Suresh Rao, member SWAYAM Monitoring Cell and UGC SWAYAM Mentor.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director, CD&OE gave an overview of SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds). He emphasized the program’s importance in expanding learning opportunities through the Choice-Based Credit System, allowing students to gain new skills beyond traditional classroom boundaries.
Prof. Sarika Manhas provided a detailed presentation on how SWAYAM makes quality education accessible to everyone, helping to bridge the digital divide. She explained the various agencies involved in SWAYAM, highlighted the SWAYAM certification process, and offered guidance on how they can earn credentials for completed courses.
Dr. Suresh Rao conducted a live demonstration of the SWAYAM portal, showing students the platform’s interface, features, and steps for registration. The session concluded with an open Q&A, where students received helpful advice from the speakers and clarified their questions.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anuradha Goswami, acknowledging Dr. Hina Abrol, Dr. Neelam Chowdhary, Prof. Anjela Gadrroo, and others who supported the program's success.
