UIET, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu successfully organized a live screening of the Post-Budget Webinar on Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) today. The session was attended by faculty members and B.Tech (Third and Final year) Civil and CSE students. The webinar focused on the enhanced scope, financial support, and opportunities under the PMRF scheme, aligning with the government’s vision of fostering a strong research ecosystem in India. Sh. Narendra Modi, Honorable Prime Minister of India also addressed the people during post-budget webinar.

Sh. Narendra Modi, Honorable Prime Minister in his address underscored the importance of investing in human capital to drive economic growth and innovation. He highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing skills and education to prepare the workforce for emerging industries. He also discussed about the strategies to bolster the economy, including support for small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and measures to improve the ease of doing business. The Prime Minister reiterated the government's focus on job creation, highlighting various initiatives designed to generate employment opportunities across sectors. He stressed the need for collaboration among government entities, industry leaders, academia, and citizens to effectively implement budget announcements related to employment. While stressing the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in shaping India’s future economy and job landscape, he emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating AI into various sectors to drive economic growth, enhance education, and foster innovation. He further outlined the government's vision for a developed India by 2047, emphasizing sustainable and inclusive growth.

The Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) is a prestigious initiative designed to support the brightest minds in India for doctoral research in IITs, IISc, and other top institutions. With attractive fellowships and research grants, the scheme aims to encourage young researchers to engage in innovative and challenging research areas. In the Budget 2025-26, it was announced that in the next five years, 10,000 fellowships will be awarded under the PMRF scheme to promote technological research with enhanced financial support. This move aims to strengthen India’s research capabilities and provide a global platform to Indian scholars.

The Post-Budget Webinar on PMRF proved to be an enlightening session for students and faculty members at UIET, Kathua Campus. It highlighted the importance of research, the benefits of the PMRF scheme, and the government’s commitment to nurturing research talent in India. The event served as an eye-opener for aspiring researchers and encouraged them to explore opportunities in advanced technological research. The students and faculty members of UIET actively engaged in the session, taking notes and discussing the opportunities available under PMRF. The students, especially those in their final year, were highly motivated to explore direct Ph.D. admissions through PMRF.
