JU organizes Dogri Musical Event for Children of Surabhi Nursery School and Day Care Centre Jammu
April 04: In a vibrant celebration of language, culture, and wellness, the Department of Home Science organized a Dogri musical event for the children of Surabhi Nursery School and Day Care Centre. The event was thoughtfully curated to instill a love for the mother tongue, Dogri, among young learners, while also harnessing the therapeutic power of music to nurture emotional well-being. The musical session showcased a special performance by Sh. Suraj Sharma, a renowned Dogri singer recognized by All India Radio (AIR) and a popular figure on YouTube. His melodious renditions captivated the young audience, making the experience both entertaining and enriching. Adding to the charm of the event, several parents of the children also stepped forward to perform, expressing their enthusiasm for the initiative and contributing to the joyful, community-oriented spirit of the occasion. Their participation underscored the vital role of collaboration between educators and families in cultivating cultural identity from an early age. Prof. Sarika Manhas, Head, Department of Home Science, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the significance of early exposure to cultural heritage and the therapeutic benefits of music in a child’s developmental journey. Senior faculty members from the Department of Home Science, including Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. Shashi Manhas, and Prof. Samridhi Arora, graced the occasion and lauded the initiative as an impactful blend of cultural education and emotional enrichment for children.
