Kathua Campus organizes Industrial Visit to Chenab Textile Mills, Kathua for MBA students

The Management School of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu successfully organized an enriching industrial visit for the MBA I & III semester students to Chenab Textile Mills, Kathua on November 18, 2024 (Monday). The visit aimed at providing students with practical exposure of textile manufacturing processes and industry operations.

The management of Chenab Textile Mills extended a warm welcome to the students and faculty, provided detailed overview of their operations and innovations in textile manufacturing. Mr. S.K. Jena, DGM-HR/Training & Development, CTM provided comprehensive overview of the organization, including its history, operations, workforce, 9739HR strategies, and contributions to the global textile market. Mr. Jena stated that blend of skill-building with self-awareness and mindfulness cultivates well-rounded individuals who are not only successful but also resilient and focused.

Ms. Kanika Samyal, HR at Chenab Textile Mills, emphasized on the adoption of sustainable practices to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. She encouraged students to explore vast opportunities in the textile industry, emphasizing the sector's vital contribution to global trade and economic growth. Furthermore, the staff of Quality and Assurance elaborated on the usage of USTERISED Trade Mark by Uster Technologies AG, Switzerland. As this trademark signifies excellent quality management systems followed by the Mills. Moreover, operational level staff highlighted about the mill’s end-to-end textile manufacturing processes, from sourcing raw materials to producing high-quality finished products.

The students interacted with the industry professionals, clarified their doubts and understand the nuance of the textile industry. The students gained valuable insights into manufacturing processes, quality control, supply chain management and observed advanced industrial operations. The visit was part of the campus's ongoing efforts to promote industry-academia collaboration and inspire the next generation of professionals in the textile sector.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu stated that industrial visits are crucial for equipping the students with real-world knowledge and helping them understand practical applications of their academic concepts.

Dr. Ritu Sharma organized the industrial event and inspired the students to be part of such visits while, Mr. Gaurav Sharma coordinated with the company for the smooth conduct of the visit. Faculty members Dr. Surekha Phakwrya and Ms. Princee Verma accompanied the students during the visit. The visit was well-received by the students, who expressed their gratitude to the Kathua Campus for organizing such an insightful trip. This initiative reaffirms the campus's commitment towards fostering industry-academia collaboration and enhancing students' learning through practical exposure.
