Introduction

The Post Graduate Department of English was one of the first three departments  established in the University in 1965. Coping with the latest guidelines and the drive for digitalization, the Department has adopted the CBCS system along with the other departments of the University since 2013. In keeping with the demands of such an interdisciplinary approach in Higher Education, the Department has revised its curriculum and thrust areas of research and is also in the process of digitalizing the working as much as possible so that the students and scholars can derive maximum benefit of this system.

Aligning itself with the vision of an inclusive education as enshrined in the NEP, the department has emerged as a dynamic site of learning. Apart from the continually evolving curriculum, the department has recently housed the University Community Radio and also become a hub of activities under the Club Consortium of the University. The Department also conducts regular field trips, practical work, presentations and student symposia and seminars to promote experimental learning. The department also collaborates with various organisations and trusts to organise activities that promote learning and research.

The Department is firmly committed to provide best environment for learning and research within the regional context and aligned to the National and International relevance to its students, scholars and teachers.
